Listen let’s face it, building muscle isn’t cheap. There are so many factors involved when you want to gain weight and build muscle.\u00a0 You need to build muscle on a budget so you”ll have extra cash right?<\/p>\n

Plus it takes a lot of time and discipline to get a bodybuilders body.<\/p>\n

On top of all the food you have to eat,\u00a0 you need the money for supplements, clothes, and gym fees if you belong to a gym.<\/p>\n

This can be quite costly, but there are a few inexpensive foods you can buy to build muscle leaving you extra cash in your pocket, sound good?<\/p>\n

Before we begin you need to understand that in order to build muscle you have to be in a caloric surplus.<\/p>\n

Here is a formula that you can follow.<\/p>\n

If you are under 12% body fat follow this formula below:<\/b><\/p>\n

  1. Take your body-weight x 19=? Example: If you are 150 pounds that would equal 2850, roughly depending on your height and age.<\/li>\n
  2. Protein will always be 1 gram per pound of body-weight a day no matter what body part you train.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \nIf you belong to a wholesale club where you can buy in bulk, you can save money and time by making less trips to the supermarket.<\/p>\n

    One thing I would suggest is to buy all your bulk items at the wholesale store and buy all your BOGO’s (Buy One Get One Free items) at your local supermarket.<\/p>\n

    This can save you big time!<\/p>\n

    Inexpensive Protein<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    1. Tuna\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    A can of tuna is an excellent source of protein that can run you about .99 a can.<\/p>\n

    Make sure to buy the one low in mercury content.<\/p>\n

    2. Cottage Cheese<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Cottage Cheese is packed full of protein. If you get the biggest size, it has about 80-90 grams of protein in the entire container.<\/p>\n

    What this means is you don’t have to eat the whole thing to get your protein requirements, you can save some and spread it out over the next few days.<\/p>\n

    3. Greek Yogurt<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Greek yogurt is the healthiest yogurt you can buy.<\/p>\n

    It also has the most protein out of the other leading brand yogurts plus…you guessed it, more protein.<\/p>\n

    One brand I recommend is Chobani. They will cost you anywhere from .99-$1.29.<\/p>\n

    4. Eggs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Eggs are great and easy to make.<\/p>\n

    You can make theses anytime of the day to get your daily protein requirements.<\/p>\n

    If you live near a farm see if you can get some eggs from there, they are probably the healthiest.<\/p>\n

    5. Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Chicken is one of the items you may want to buy in bulk.<\/p>\n

    Buying chicken every other day can be costly at your local supermarket but at a wholesale club you’ll save in the long run.<\/p>\n

    Inexpensive Carbohydrates<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    1. Potatoes\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Potatoes are a great source of carbohydrate to bulk up on a budget.<\/p>\n

    I recommend eating sweet potato, baked potato, and red potato.<\/p>\n

    Potatoes will run you about .99-$1.29 a pound.<\/p>\n

    2. Bananas<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Bananas are really good for you pre training and they’ll only cost about .69 a pound.<\/p>\n

    You can’t beat that plus you can take them anywhere and everywhere you go without the hassle of having cooked meals.<\/p>\n

    3. Cereals<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n

    Cereals aren’t the healthiest choice but its a quick carbohydrate for those really struggling to put on weight.<\/p>\n

    If you start gaining to much weight you may want to back off a little at a time.<\/p>\n

    4. Rice<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Buy rice in bulk and get a rice cooker.<\/p>\n

    Having a rice cooker is a must and overtime it’s cheaper than buying all those frozen rice bags.<\/p>\n

    Buying rice in bulk will last you a while and keep you fuller.<\/p>\n

    Eat a lot of Brown rice as it is a slower digesting carbohydrate.<\/p>\n

    Inexpensive Fats<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

    1. Peanut butter<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Fats is what increases your testosterone levels.<\/p>\n

    Peanut butter is one of the cheapest fat sources and all you have to do is eat a couple spoon full at night before bed.<\/p>\n

    Nuts are also a great and inexpensive food to gain weight and build muscle.<\/p>\n
