If your levels of Ghrelin get too high, you constantly feel hungry \u2026 constantly crave food, typically bad-for-you foods like sweets and fatty snack foods.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re always experiencing urges for \u201cbad foods\u201d, it\u2019s because your Ghrelin level is high and it\u2019s activating the hunger centers of your brain that control your appetite.<\/p>\n

As you can imagine, high Ghrelin levels make it extremely difficult to lose weight and keep it off.<\/p>\n

Insulin<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I call this your \u201cFat Saving Hormone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The truth is if you are overweight, you\u2019re probably carrying around a lot of excess sugar, or glucose, in your bloodstream, and then you are storing it as fat.<\/p>\n

If you eat a lot of sugar-filled foods, or if you drink lots of sugary drinks, your blood glucose levels are too high for you to burn any body fat for food.<\/p>\n

Again, having even a low level of insulin resistance, (which most of us have) can make it virtually impossible to lose fat.<\/p>\n

Cortisol<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I call this your \u201cFat Defense Hormone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Excess cortisol is produced in response to stress; it amps you up to be ready to fight or flee in case of danger.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, in today\u2019s stress-filled world, excess cortisol harms your body\u2019s ability to burn fat and store it.<\/p>\n

Having too much cortisol can actually cause your body to burn muscle for energy and push excess fat into the abdominal area where it is stored.<\/p>\n

Adiponectin<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I call this your \u201cFat Burning Hormone.\u201d It is responsible for telling your body to use \u201cfat for fuel\u201d instead of storing it.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, a common hormone production imbalance that many people suffer from can cause adiponectin levels to sink which in turn causes you to store more fat and have a more difficult time getting rid of that excess fat.<\/p>\n
